About Us
7 Fathoms Entertainment was the dream of Lauren Fort. Lauren began performing as a mermaid at a medieval festival in Norman, Oklahoma when she was 20 years old. She believed in bringing the magic and enchantment of the fairy tale world to life for the young and the young at heart. Although she enjoyed performing at the Norman Medieval Festival, it was a long way from her home in Muskogee. The Oklahoma Renaissance Festival was her home festival and she approached them with the proposal to bring mermaids to the festival. With great delight, the festival welcomed Lauren and her idea to the pirate museum, located in the harbor, and from there, the dream became a reality. With the help of a few friends and their tails, the Mermaids of Castleton were born. In 2013, "Mermaids of Castleton" became a very popular attraction and was given the opportunity to build an even bigger area for their performance. The mermaid grotto was built just beyond Emerald Lake, tucked away in a beautiful wooded nook of the grounds. Complete with a natural pool, the cast of Mermaids of Castleton were thrilled to be out in a space all their own. As the years went on, members of the team came and went but the dream remained and further expansions were needed. A name change was on the horizon and a complete overhaul of the grotto was needed to their continued growth. In the fall 2017, the name was officially changed to 7 Fathoms Entertainment and the grotto transformed from a small natural pond to a chlorine controlled pool that allowed our mermaids to swim naturally and interact in a new way! Today, 7 Fathoms Entertainment is home to Oklahoma's only aquatic mermaid performance stage show featured at the Oklahoma Renaissance Festival.
